• Avoid white clothing because the portrait background for United States Passport Photographs is white.
• It is best to remove your glasses to eliminate any chances of rejection because of reflections.
• Your expression must be neutral with no frowning and can only have a minimal smile.
• USA passport photos must be taken by a professional studio.

Since 9/11 US citizens must carry a United States of America passport to go abroad. All United States passport photos will be taken according to the US Government guide line and must pass all seven check lists described in the Government specs or they will be rejected and sent back to you.

The seven items for a U.S.A. Passport are:

1. Size of the US passport picture - 2 x 2 inches.
2. Correct size of your head - 1 to 1 3/8 from top of hair to chin.
3. White background ( it it white enough, or pale enough?
4. No shadows - shadow is one of the common rejection reasons for US immigration office. We've seen many photos rejected because of the shadow.
5. Exposure can not be too light or too dark.
6. Your eyes must be clearly visible - eye level must be between 1 1/8 to 1 3/4 from bottom of photo.
7. Don't smile (at least not too much ) - US government says "Encourage subject to have a natural expression". So be it.
