• Avoid white clothing because the portrait background for Indian Passport Picture is light gray.
• It is best to remove your glasses to eliminate any chances of rejection because of reflections.
• Your expression must be neutral with no frowning or smiling.
• You should be looking directly at the camera. Pictures even slightly in profile have been known to be rejected.
• Your face should fill between 70 to 80% of the photo area.
• Indian Passport photographs must be taken by a professional studio.
• Passport and Visa photo sizes and quantities of photos required change frequently. Please verify the photo specs with your consulate prior to visiting our studio.

Depening on your consulate Feldman's Photography will create identical Passport photos for India that will be exactly 35mm x 45mm , 50mm x 50mm, or 35mm x 35mm or 2" x2" depending on which Indian Government you are working with against a white or light gray background.

• Four passport size photographs (size 3.5 cm X 3.5 cm with white background) showing frontal view of full face including the one to be pasted on the top of application form.

  *However some Indian Consulate have recently started asking for 2x2 inch passport photos. Please check with your consulate before your appointment.

• One of these four photographs is to be pasted (do not staple this photo) on the first page of the application in the space provided for the purpose.

  *Photographs with other than white background will not be accepted.

• For the Consulate General of India in New York, you will need three 2x2 inch passport photos.
• They should show a frontal view of full face including the one to be pasted on the top of application form.
• As we probably know, none of the USA based stores- CVS Passports, Walgreens Passport Photo center, Walmart Passport photo center, or Costco Passport Photos- offer passport photo service for Indian Passports. That is why Feldman's Photography is where most Tampa Bay Indians come to us for their Indian Passport and Visa photographs.

• Photo Specifications to guarantee India's acceptance for your passport or visa:
  1. Full UPPER HALF BODY view with all facial features clearly visible.
  2. Face should neither be too bright nor too dark.
  3. If wearing spectacles – reflection of light from the glasses should not be visible.
  4. White or near-white background with no visible shadow on the face or background.
  5. Do not wear white/ light colored shirt as it blends with light background.
  6. Light reflection from hair should not be visible.
  7. No profile or three quarter views of the head are allowed in Indian Passport Photos.

     *The requirements are not clear as different indian embassies specify different sizes for passports photos.

Indian OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India ) must be 50mm x 50mm

• Two identical photos are required for Indian OCI applications.
• A light gray background is required for OCI pictures.
• A white background is definitely not allowed.

Indian Visa (for visitors from Overseas)

• The size of the photo must be 35mm x 45mm.
• White or light colored background required.
• 2 identical photos are required for Indian Visa Photos.
• Both of the Indian Visa Photos required must identical.
